Dell, Windows and the Journey Continues

Okay, so the new laptop was a breeze to setup – after suffering through #Microsoft’s evolution of how to install systems software for many years, finally, a nice interface and reasonable wait times.  And #Dell made it especially easy with the way the machine was configured, packaged and shipped.  It arrived promptly and exactly as spec’d, kudos.  I wish the experience were this easy all the years I was in IT setting up systems, the x’ers better appreciate it, and recognize that the ease now is a result of innovation.  New and better ways to accomplish the important tasks that must be accomplished to reach a goal.

So #Microsoft has reached one goal, they have kept me as a customer. Their product development team just announced new betas yesterday, so Microsoft is articulating its vision on the person-machine experience and how deeply they will go into the Internet of Things.  Interesting developments… On another note,

I think I just found the implementation of one of my BI visions.  Check out this video of the Yale School of Management “And at the Yale School of Management, not only did digital signage become a key component of the building and the experience of the space, data itself became a key element of the signage and the experience.” emphasis mine.  I have tried to present visualizations of information to various audiences, and now with the advent of digital signage, this market is going to explode.  Data geeks unite!  We are finally going to have a billboard to work with.  Need some help getting you’re creative juices flowing – go back and check out the classics – Stephen Few, Edward Tufte, James Martin. Then watch the video again.  Awesome!
